Did I mention Twitter?
There's been concern that I haven't posted on my blog much lately. Part of the reason is that I joined Twitter awhile back. It's proven to be quite adept at sending out updates on the Grickle store, Dank/Dunk webcomic, and Flickr updates.
So feel free to follow along here: http://twitter.com/grickle
But don't worry, I haven't abandoned the blog! It'll still be updated but on a more relaxed schedule. :)

Willamette Week cover
I was lucky enough to do the cover for this week's Willamette Week newspaper here in Portland, Oregon. The image was for a feature article on landlords and renters in the current recession. You can see the image without text here.

Magnus the Misfit in Flight #6!
I've got a brand new story in Flight #6 which debuts next week at Comic-Con! It's a 21 page piece called "Magnus the Misfit". I hand painted all the panels, along with some photoshop tweaks, and I must say I'm really happy with the results. Make sure to stop by the Flight booth at the convention and pick yourself up a book! (I won't be attending this year unfortunately, but my good bro Scott C. and a million other talented folks will be there!)
You can check out some sample pages here!

Coraline storyboard stuff.
A lot of folks have been asking to see the storyboard work I did on Coraline so I thought I'd post a few items. Here's a smattering of art I created for the "Chocolate Beetles" sequence. You can see some amazing design work that Chris Turnham did for this particular set as well.
Coraline is now the second highest grossing Stop-Motion film in history! Pretty cool.

Grickle named one of the top Indie books of ALL TIME!
Of all time. Yep. Well, at least Wizard magazine thinks so. In their recent issue #211 an article titled "The 25 Indie gems even the most goulish Marvel zombie or dedicated DC devotee must read before they die!" they list the first Grickle book. I'm rather flabbergasted and astounded to be part of a lineup that has Jeff Smith, Seth, Daniel Clowes, Chris Ware, and Art Spiegelman on it. Not to mention a ton of other incredibly talented folks. A very pleasant surprise indeed.

Stumptown Comics Festival in Portland!
I'll be attending the Stumptown Comics Festival in Portland next week (April 18th-19th)! I've been at every Stumptown Festival since it's start in a little old church back in 2004. It's been really fun to watch the event grow over the years.
At this year's show the long awaited Bridge Project Anthology will be debuting! The 100 page book contains a story "Shanghooked!" drawn and written by both Scott C and I. We both had an awesome time creating this piece together and I hope people go nuts for it and the book! I'll also be selling my usual array of Grickle and Hickee books, as well as some minis and original art. Hope to see you there!
Oh! And I've got some brand new pieces on display at Pony Club this month. Make sure to attend the official Stumptown Wrap Party on Sunday, April 19 to witness "The Many Masks of Dr. Manford." Along with a number of other amazing comic artists up on their walls.

The S#*t Dectective in live action!
I just received a link to a short film based on "The S#*t Dectective" story I did in Hickee #4. Super gross and funny. I'd never imagined this tale done with living breathing actors before. What a strange world we live in. Check it out. (WARNING- chock full of sweary words and questionable taste, just like the Hickee comic.)

Hidden person.
My awesome and talented friend Jeremy constructed a little red gnome based on my "The Hidden People" short. I received it as a holiday gift and I now spend many an hour staring at my hidden person. He scares me and I love it.
Could you imagine these dudes in stop-motion? Holy crap.
