We started with the Atari 2600 in 1978, My dad would bring his apple IIplus from work and we would play the sierra adventures like "Mystery House" and "Wizard and the Princess"...Hours of wasted time trying to guess commands to make something happen on the screen never was so much fun!

From there came the Commodore 64....I still remember getting physically jolted whenever an SS officer came into a room on the 2D Castle Wolfenstein. I also remember being signed up to an online service called "Quantumlink" and somehow made friends with someone on a chat board on the east coast and I would send him blank floppies and he would take the time to fill them and mail them back. Strange to think that now.

I am still very much a gamer at heart (Im 46 now), and just built my first state of the art PC last February. I only play a title or two a year as I take forever on them, but its still so worth it.

Chuckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01481826990950112187noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22937804.post-11270603710276530312016-04-04T02:34:46.126-07:002016-04-04T02:34:46.126-07:00Yay! to more Grickle stuff.Yay! to more Grickle stuff.arcticcirclehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06863711064845963528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22937804.post-8044888479235232082016-03-21T17:14:49.374-07:002016-03-21T17:14:49.374-07:00Excellent news! And I'm pretty sure you can manage it. :-)

You might also find it interesting to know that a lot of the fantasy & sci fi miniatures crowd also tend to take bits and pieces, jam them together into something that seems like fun, and call it a day. Sometimes the things they make are pretty weird, sometimes they're pretty awesome. Some of the folks who consistently come up with awesome, unique creations are absolute garbage at putting together anything according to some preconceived plan. :-)Christine Salterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04843320957662848091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22937804.post-51900911591590072592015-10-08T11:26:47.922-07:002015-10-08T11:26:47.922-07:00let me know if you need decals. I wasted a lot of my own money and the money of others on model kits, and only completed a few (with less than museum quality results). Well, I guess by sharing your experiences (especially how to deal with the problem) you did a good thing.

Personally I don't have panic attacks but I'm very familiar with anxieties and I also prefer to keep me occupied with pencil or brush and paper in order to distract my mind from fear (wether it's random or out of a certain reason). Unfortunately there's no sport to be obsessed with (also no hockey because hockey may be existent but is not that popular where I come from).
You told that you found your way of pretty much "beating" this problem. That's so awesome and I'm happy for you as I am for others who find working methods! I'm still on my way but I wonder if this way will ever find an end...until I find out I keep drawing ;)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06052108119376228215noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22937804.post-72170800678038824802015-09-24T15:11:06.367-07:002015-09-24T15:11:06.367-07:00Agreed, the catching glove was always trickiest! There was something about the detail of the waffle pad (blocker) and all of the leather compartments of the leg pads that was transfixing to me. The catching glove was always the toughest to draw. In action photographs, it always mooshed itself into an undrawable pancake of straps and webbing.

Denis Herron, Penguins, blue uniforms was always my go-to guy. But ...Yep, that sounds like a hard lesson to learn. But luckily you didn't give up drawing after this.
I used to be "the best drawer" in my schools but had a different hard lesson to learn, that is to say that drawing best doesn't give you friendship even if you don't brag about your skills.

When I read about you drawing snakes and your friends drawing planes...I suggest you should have drawn snakes on a (their) plane :))

And drawing planes and other machines it's awesome but in the end (to me at least) what counts is style. Whatever you can draw, either if it's people, animals or objects: if people tell "YOU did this, I recognize your style here" it's worth a lot, I think. And if they like your style they forgive the fact that you can draw one thing not as well as another.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06052108119376228215noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22937804.post-21901642096502480842015-09-01T11:16:23.365-07:002015-09-01T11:16:23.365-07:00Pictures in books are totally fine with me! I am a...Hey, welcome to the club of slow readers :D
I am also a slow reader and started more with comic books than "real" books in my life.

When it comes to horror stories, I admit, I haven't experienced a Stephen King book so far. But when you say something like "Salem's Lot" is awesome, I buy that (haven't heard of that btw). It's great to find books that can suck you in so easily.
I also haven't read many horror stories as books in general but the ones I really enjoy very much are Japanese ghost stories, "Rosemary's Baby" and such books that show the (real) horror in terrifying societies like "1984" or cult books.

A question about pictures in books: Do you generally like them or are you quite selective? Like "when the characters look way too modernized, I don't like it" or "I prefer traditional illustrations in books"?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06052108119376228215noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22937804.post-6351196111350757512015-08-25T13:40:16.736-07:002015-08-25T13:40:16.736-07:00Thanks for sticking with it, Graham.
